Serving Veterans goes beyond the loan closing table. For the NewDay USA team, it shows up in the community, too, and a recent trip to the Lake Worth and Palm Springs area was proof of that.

Our team had the privilege of volunteering alongside the crew of Military Makeover with Montel®, a home improvement series that airs on Lifetime® and honors military Veterans with full home renovations. The show recently took home Outstanding Reality Show at the 27th Annual Family Film and TV Awards, which aired on CBS and Paramount+.

What We Did

Over the course of the makeover, our volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work. The team cleaned and scrubbed floors, cleared out debris, moved in and unpacked furniture, and helped build an outdoor playhouse and swing set for the family. Every task was done with one goal in mind: making a Veteran's home feel like the sanctuary they deserve.

Pitching In

A Veteran who had their own home renovated through the show in a previous season was also there volunteering, giving back to the current family the same way others had once given to them. They shared how much their renovated home had meant to them, describing it as a true oasis. Seeing that gratitude turned into action was a powerful reminder that the spirit of service doesn't stop at separation.

That mindset was so captivating and made us want to keep doing anything we could to help.

The Veteran honored by this episode gave years of service to this country. This makeover was one way the community could give something back. Watching a family walk into a transformed home is a reminder of what service to others looks like.

At NewDay USA, we believe homeownership is a powerful tool available to Veterans and their families. But beyond the loans and the numbers, we believe in showing up.
