Fishburne Military School Cadet John Lipp will finish his education there on a full scholarship, thanks to the NewDay USA Foundation.

John’s father, Army Sergeant Robert Lipp, passed away from ALS in 2013. The combat veteran served in Iraq in 2005—2006. ALS has been linked by some studies to military service.

“A good education builds a foundation for success,” says Posner. “I’m honored to assist military children whose families have sacrificed so much for this country.” Posner is a graduate of Fishburne. The scholarships are being given in honor of his father, Allan Posner.

Scholars are selected based on their performance and military service of a parent.

The cadet’s mother, Jacqueline Lipp says a large burden has been lifted. She says she can’t thank NewDay USA enough for securing her son’s education as well as lifting her son’s spirits.

“Do you know what this means?” Mrs. Lipp asked her son when Posner called with the news. “I get to go to school for free,” the cadet answered. “Yes,” she told her son, “But more than that it means they believe in you.
