NewDay USA Issues Statement on Senate Bill S. 2155

NewDay USA's Views on Senate Bill S. 2155.
Kelley GannonMarch 8th, 2018

Today, NewDay USA issued the following statement regarding the substitute amendment to S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, offered by Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Jon Tester (D-MT), and Mark Warner (D-VA).  The amendment includes the language of S. 2304, the Protecting Veterans from Predatory Lending Act of 2018, introduced by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

The following is a statement from Rear Admiral Thomas C. Lynch USN (Ret.), executive chairman of NewDay USA.

“NewDay USA supports Chairman Crapo’s inclusion of the Protecting Veterans from Predatory Lending Act in his manager’s amendment to the Senate’s regulatory relief legislation. This bi-partisan provision, which Senators Tillis and Warren introduced as a stand-alone bill, will protect veterans from churning when they access their hard-earned and well-deserved VA home loan benefits.  No veteran should be charged excessive fees for comparatively little benefit, and this legislation is a good first step toward ensuring our Nation’s heroes do not fall victim to predatory lenders.

“We all have a common goal, to ensure that our veterans, servicemembers and their families are treated with the respect, deference and the dignity they deserve. NewDay’s mission is to help veterans access the valuable VA home loan benefits they have earned, so they may achieve the American dream of home ownership.  We are a company of honor, integrity and we provide a valuable service to our veterans and servicemembers.”
