Happy Birthday, USCG!

NewDay USA celebrates the United States Coast Guard’s 226th Birthday with history lesson… and cake!

Washington, DC – If you’re lucky enough to have a ten dollar bill in your pocket, pull it out and look at the guy on the front. It’s Alexander Hamilton. He founded America’s financial system. He also founded the United States Coast Guard.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard (retired) Vincent Patton gathered NewDay employees for a short history review, then shared some pretty interesting current statistics: The USCG performs 45 search and rescue missions, saves ten lives, protects 1.2 million in property, confiscates 874 pounds of cocaine and 214 pounds of marijuana- daily. Daily!

Patton then lead the group in singing the Coast Guard song, and following military tradition, used a beautiful NCO Marine Sword to slice into a fabulous birthday cake.
